Try looking back at a photo of yourself from a few years ago. It might be a hairstyle you no longer wear, a shirt you once wore all the time, or an accessory you had on your hand that seemed to appear every single day. There were things that once suited us perfectly, then at some point, they simply weren't chosen anymore.
It's not necessarily because they were old; I just started liking other things. Taste changes in such a quiet way. Sometimes you have to look back far enough to realize how much you have changed.
But from those old photos, you can see a few things that seem to have never completely disappeared: a certain shape that always catches your eye, a texture that doesn't need to be too polished, a detail strange enough to warrant a second look. They appear on different items, at different times, but the way I am drawn to them remains the same.
Perhaps the thing that stays the longest isn't an item, but the way we choose.

WHEN TASTE CHANGES BUT YOU DON'T START OVER
There was a time when a large ring felt like too much. A few years later, that same hand finds a small design to be not enough.
There were things kept so carefully that even a scratch caught my attention. After wearing them many times, the surface is no longer as pristine as the first day, but there is no longer any reason to want it to be completely like new again.
The way a person wears, displays, and combines everything around them rarely stands still. An old choice might disappear from the closet but leaves behind a preference. An item no longer worn still helps me understand better what suits me. Those seemingly disjointed attempts, when looked at long enough, can connect into a fairly clear line.
Therefore, a personal style perhaps doesn't lie in maintaining one appearance forever; it lies deeper, in the logic that keeps us constantly drawn to certain things, even when their forms have changed.

SYMBOLS CAN ALSO CHANGE THEIR APPEARANCE
Symbols don't need to be placed on the same form forever to be recognized.
When moving from one design to another, proportions may change: lines are condensed, structures are separated, or a familiar detail appears in a place it never has before. Sometimes the symbol is fully present; sometimes there is just enough left to evoke the original image.
That is also how new HELIOS designs continue to be formed.
It is not to repeat ourselves, nor to erase what already exists. A familiar language can still be tested on new forms, new ways of wearing, and different proportions.

TRYING A DIFFERENT WAY TO APPEAR
There is always a natural reason for one's appearance to change every day. Sometimes, it is just an occasion to try another side of your own taste: a form you haven't worn before, a combination you've never tried, or a familiar symbol in a shape you've never seen.
Some things are tried and then left behind, while others unexpectedly stay and, from then on, become a part of how you appear in the days to come.
Perhaps in a few years, when looking back at what we are choosing now, we will also see that many things have changed, but amidst those changes, we can still recognize a few familiar details.
Things that, at some point, we started to like in our own very special way.
